During the Newark Arts Festival October 7 to 10, 2021, Artfront Galleries will present Sotto Voce, curated by Susan O’Rourke. This will be the latest installment of our Urban Matters series at 1180 Raymond Blvd. The opening reception will be Friday October 8th and the exhibition is expected to tun through early November.
Sotto Voce means quiet voice. Commonly it is a notation in music. In the hands of a Maestro the Sotto Voce moments are compelling, rich, and inform the entire piece. Whether through politics, societal norms, or prejudice there are many who are “sotto voce” but whose messages are challenging us to action.
Artfront Galleries is seeking artists or works capturing Sotto Voce – for example: Immigrants, Indigenous people, physically or mentally challenged, transgender, those devalued in any way.
If interested, please submit 4 to 6 images (no internet links) at least 300 dpi by Friday, August 20, 2021, to artfrontgalleries@gmail.com. Naming Convention for submitted images = Artist_Title_Dimensions. We are planning to produce a catalog for this event.
