On Saturday, September 10 the Newark LGBTQ Center and Artfront Galleries collaborated on the first of a series of sessions exploring The Business of Art.  Susan O’Rourke, the President of Artfront Galleries, led the discussion. The conversation centered around the concept of branding yourself as an artist.  Topics included: the need for clarity and consistency in all messaging; the role of logos, taglines, and business cards; the necessity of networking; and, importance of social media. Class concluded with all the attendees developing their Artist Statement and sharing them with the class.

Participants eagerly agreed that another session was warranted. The plan is to meet on Saturday, October 8 from 9 to 11 AM at the Artisan Collective, 11 Halsey St., Newark. The main activity will be to work on everyone’s 2 Minute Elevator Speech.  All local artists in all media and all levels of experience are welcome.
